Nisan - The Beginning of Months

Image Most of us celebrated Resurrection Day on March 31, 2024, commemorating the AD 32 Passover events—the crucifixion, burial, and resurrection of Yeshua Jesus, our Jewish Messiah. Interestingly, Israel was celebrating Passover as I began writing this week. According to, “The Jewish Passover began Monday, April 22 nd , at 7:34 p.m. EST and ended Wednesday, April 24th, at 8:29 p.m. EST.” However, they celebrated with heavy hearts this “…night of solemn observance to the LORD for bringing them out of the land of Egypt…” [1]   Almost 4,000 years ago, in the Jewish month, Nisan , aka Abib, YHWH – the I AM Who I AM – the only True and Living God, who is Three, yet One, miraculously passed over the Israelites who had the BLOOD of a lamb spread upon the doorposts and lintel of their homes, while He killed the firstborn of Egypt. Why did God do this? So, Israel “…may know that the LORD does make a difference between the Egyptians and Israel…so that My wond

Image "March is often recognized as a month of extremes and a battle between two seasons: winter and spring… AccuWeather  meteorologists say." [1]   A battle between two extremes? Winter and spring, cold and heat, but is there more?   Spiritually, March has always been a battle, not only of seasons but of good versus evil. This portion of our year sees so much the enemy of our soul hates. Take the "jolly Jewish holiday of Purim…celebrated every year on the 14th of the Hebrew month of Adar (late winter/early spring).  Purim  2024 begins on  Saturday night, March 23 , and continues through  Sunday, March 24 …" [2]   Purim, meaning lots, comes from the Book of Esther . "It commemorates the (Divinely orchestrated) salvation of the Jewish people in the ancient Persian empire from Haman's plot "to destroy, kill and annihilate all the Jews, young and old, infants, and women, in a single day." Image Have you ever read Sonnet 43 by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, How Do I Love Thee ? While I may have read it a time or two, I can only remember and lamely quote the first twenty-four words. “How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I love thee to the depth and breadth and height My soul can reach…” [1]   Browning was born in 1806 and died in 1861. She didn’t live very long by our current lifespan, but she made the most of her fifty-five years with the beautiful words of her poems or sonnets, especially this one. As I reread Sonnet 43, I thought of young love and the passion I felt as I met, dated, and married my husband. In the early days of our love , I walked three feet off the ground and easily could have quoted these words to him. And I just might have at one point or another.   But after all these years, as much as I love my husband and still feel excited and privileged to be his wife, he is my earthly husband. I await my heavenly Bridegroom, my Lord an

Here we are at the beginning of a new year, some blanketed with snow and ice as they are every winter. In my lifetime, I’ve seen milder winters and some that are fierce, but all in all, things have stayed the same . The earth God created has been going through cycles since the worldwide flood of Noah’s day. And even though we hear experts warn of global warming, nothing really has changed, except the fear and lies the climate-change propagandists spew.   You might remember when these fear-mongers blasted out news of a tear in the ozone layer and another ice age. When that didn’t work, they changed their story to global warming. Many Creation scientists strongly disagree. So, don’t buy into this ploy of the “elites.” They want us common folks, whom they deem “useless eaters,” to live in fear because that way, we’re easier to control.   However, true believers in Jesus Christ know this is not our home. Heaven is! And this is why our LORD placed eternity in our hearts. [1] He
