As In The Days Of Lot

  If you remember, a few months ago, I was feeling like Jonah.  (See Saturday, June 27, 2020, "Occupy Till I Come" blog.) But lately, I’ve been feeling more like  L o t . In the books of Matthew and Luke, Jesus equated end times with the days of Noah. However, in Luke, He makes another comparison. “Likewise, as it was also in the d a y s o f L o t : They ate , they drank , they bought , they sold , they planted , they built , but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.” (Luke 17:28-29) Wow! They were just going about their daily lives oblivious to the pending judgment when sudden destruction came upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman and as a thief in the night. The Bible Mini-Series Commentary

Did you watch the History Channel’s mini-series entitled “The Bible”? I wasn’t able to watch while it aired, so I purchased the DVD when it became available. Unfortunately, I wasn’t impressed. The first thing I noticed was their disclaimer to stay true to the spirit of the book, prior to each episode, meaning they would take liberties, using creative license. However, wishing to give them the benefit of the doubt, I watched. I’m only half-way through the episodes and already the errors are too numerous to record. However, before I list the three most disturbing, I will give caution about the unnecessary and gruesome violence. Although violence is in our Bible, Scripture avoids the details and this depiction is not appropriate for children. So here goes:
