The Miracle of Music

The pier at San Juan Island, Washington This was my year of travel. Yet, the only trip I actually planned was my “Cousins” vacation to Seattle this past August. But somehow, I ended up traveling much more than originally intended. In all my travels this year, I encountered many delayed flights, and the return trip from Seattle was the worst. Our flight out of Seattle was delayed so long we missed the connecting flight. No other flights out to Pittsburgh, PA until morning. We had a quick overnight stay and were back at the airport by 4:30am. Salt Lake City to Detroit, then on to Pittsburgh and home. I’m rarely on Facebook, but this morning I came across an intriguing video shared by a friend:   How to pass the time when your flight is delayed .  https://www.facebook.com/hoppersdream/videos/332233487339304/  The video was a group of hip-hop dancers who waited on their delayed flight by dancing in the airport terminal. Christian Tattoos?

Two weekends ago, I had the privilege of attending the Franklin Graham Festival of Hope in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with my aunt and cousin. As volunteers, we arrived very early and the arena’s immensity stunned me. All I could say was, “Lord Jesus, fill this place with Your Spirit.” After receiving our assignments, people began filling the seats. What a joy to see the kids having such a great time moving to the music of these Christian artists and then intently listening to their testimony. Each artist gave details of their life and the lies they believed until someone introduced them to Jesus. And as He does with everyone who calls upon His name to repent, believe, and receive Him as Savior and Lord, Jesus turned their lives around. They are new creations, who now sing for Him. Each evening, Jesus Christ was...

Miracles in the Wilderness Series - Lesson 9 - The Red Sea Crossing - Part 2

“By faith they (Israel) passed through the Red Sea as by dry land, whereas the Egyptians, attempting to do so, were drowned.” Hebrews 11:29 The descendants of Abraham had just participated in God’s great miracle and final act of judgment, fulfilling His ancient prophecy (Genesis 15: 13-14). This morning, joy gushed from their hearts in a song of praise. Songs, music, don’t we love it? Musical instruments, radios, CDs, MP players, and iPods are everywhere. But did you know God created music? Yes, He set seven notes in place and we named them. Seven, the number God uses to indicate perfection and completion. Now, although an octave has eight notes, notice the eighth goes back to the first and all others are only variations of the original seven.
