Meat for the Hungry

  Here we are at the beginning of a new year, some blanketed with snow and ice as they are every winter. In my lifetime, I’ve seen milder winters and some that are fierce, but all in all, things have stayed the same . The earth God created has been going through cycles since the worldwide flood of Noah’s day. And even though we hear experts warn of global warming, nothing really has changed, except the fear and lies the climate-change propagandists spew.   You might remember when these fear-mongers blasted out news of a tear in the ozone layer and another ice age. When that didn’t work, they changed their story to global warming. Many Creation scientists strongly disagree. So, don’t buy into this ploy of the “elites.” They want us common folks, whom they deem “useless eaters,” to live in fear because that way, we’re easier to control.   However, true believers in Jesus Christ know this is not our home. To you, who is Jesus? To the typical, unbelieving man on the street, Jesus may be a good man, a teacher, an avatar of the divine, or even a myth invented by man to control the masses. I can’t remember where I heard this last comment, but it saddens me. I feel the anger and cynicism behind it and I sense the person’s hatred of anyone they believe is telling them what they can or cannot do. The problem with the unbeliever’s conclusions about Jesus is their conscience; that innate awareness of right and wrong. They can’t explain it or get rid of it. They’re convicted by a law they refuse to acknowledge and it angers them. Yet, the only reason we know right from wrong is because God wrote it. The Almighty, Triune God set the Standard and no matter what we do there’s no getting around it.

got hope? Hope waits. Hope trusts. Hope anticipates. Hope longs and expects. Hope is unseen. Have you ever prepared something you couldn’t wait to deliver?  You lovingly create this special item and then rehearse every scenario of the moment it is received.  But when the time comes, things don’t go as planned.  Somehow the delivery was bungled. The timing skewed. The reception less than perfect. What happened?  Nothing went as you had imagined. Now you’re left with great disappointment; dreams deflating like a leaky balloon. All your hopes, poof – gone in an instant. Aww, such is life, my mother would say. But why? Is it because we are temporal and our life, in its best state is but a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away? [1] Is it because we live in a sin-cursed world where everything groans, awaiting the revealing of the sons and daughters of God? [2] Possibly. But thankfully, we cannot see the future.  ...
