Can You Know What I Know?

Image
www.sewingdivine.com   Most of us pride ourselves on being educated,   well-informed, and confident in this life. But   let me ask,  “What do we really know?”    We research and study many subjects: the   human body, animals, birds, marine life,     insects, the ground beneath our feet, and the   vast sky above. But sadly, the knowledge we   gain is limited by our finite minds.       Thinking we know how our bodies work and what it takes to heal them, we forge ahead with educated guesses. Yet, many times the answer is beyond our capacity to know, and doctors are forced to say, “There’s nothing more we can do.” Researchers and virologists study diseases and viruses, and just when they think they have a cure for one, another pops up out of nowhere, and it’s back to the drawing board.   Over the years, we ingenious humans have gained incredible knowledge. In fact, I h...

Unto Us

Driving to church a few Sundays ago, I contemplated what God would have me write this month. As each beautiful Scripture of our Savior’s incarnation and birth filed through my memory, I reached Isaiah 9:6, and it exploded in full Halleluiah Chorus style.   “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”   When my personal concert concluded, I thought, Lord, hasn’t this verse been written about by more intelligent and creative people? What could I possibly write that hasn’t already been said?   Like frames of a silent movie film, the Son’s names rolled by one by one, “Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Then, in a flash, they rewound to W o n d e r f u l .   I love this name. Early in my conversion, God opened my eyes to it in the announcement of Sampson’s concept...

Jesus Is The ONLY Way

Please take a few minutes to read this article about Pastor John MacArthur of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California.  https://www.christianheadlines.com/contributors/milton-quintanilla/john-macarthur-forewarned-of-evangelicalisms-obsession-with-social-justice.html?utm_source=Jeeng John MacArthur is absolutely correct. There is so much more going on with these riots - an underlying agenda of evil. The Ephesians verses mentioned in this article are where God is speaking about how through Jesus, who is our peace, He "...has made BOTH ONE..." [Jew and Gentile, black and white, slave and free - for we are all sinners who fall short of God's glory]. Because Jesus shed His blood and died for our sin, paying sin's penalty for us, God "...has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His [Jesus's] flesh the enmity [hostility], that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself ONE NEW MAN from th...

Seven Days of Prayer - Day 5

Oh LORD, my God, it feels as though we are living in the days of Noah, [1] and in the days of Lot. [2] People are angry, frustrated, and in defiance because of the orders from our governmental leaders. Others are the opposite—these are working tirelessly to ensure our safety. Father, we are facing what is humanly unknown, and yet it is not unknown to You. You alone reveal deep and secret things. You know what is in the darkness because light dwells with You. [3] Every day, O Most High, people are dying, and until this VIRUS, I rarely considered them unless it was one with whom I was familiar. Father, forgive me. I abhor myself and repent in dust and ashes. [4] However, this day You, Lord, have opened my eyes to the plight of humanity. And our plight is not the coronavirus, it is the condition of our soul. There is coming a day when every human will be faced with Your question, “What did you do with Jesus?” He was God in the flesh, who was led as a LAMB to the...

His Work of Art

For the last three or four weeks, I’ve been renovating my bedroom, and I’m not done yet. My poor husband, all my bedroom furniture is in my dining room. I’ve scraped loose paint, patched cracks and holes in the plaster. I’ve primed the woodwork, painted it, the ceiling, and the walls. Scrubbed and vacuumed the carpet, and yesterday, my husband fixed the window, but not without some damage to my newly painted woodwork. Ugh! Today, I’ll do touchups, move the furniture back in, and decorate. My goal is to create a beautiful and peaceful environment—a masterpiece—my work of art . Our house is old, so anything I do is cosmetic. I’m not an HGTV type of renovator. Still, all this work and planning has given me insight into a verse I’ve been stuck on for quite some time—Ephesians 2:10. Originally, I contemplated the word walk, but now workmanship.

The WORD Became Flesh

“In the beginning was the Word , and the Word was with God , and the Word was God . ” [1]      The Word , as a double-edged sword, [2] pierced eternity, “Let there be light...” [3]      Thus began the infinite perfection of the eternal, triune God’s d e s i g n . Father, Son, and Holy Spirit had planned and would now bring it to pass. Six days creating something out of nothing, one day of rest, and then the unthinkable. God’s humans chose to disobey His command. Sin and death entered, [4] and the whole of creation groaned. [5] A cloud of darkness enveloped the people of earth like a shroud. [6] Sin had doomed man to death. Would they eventually cease to exist? Was there a way for man to be saved?      God was not surprised by man’s sin. He is all-knowing. His p l a n had many facets, and in time, all would be revealed.      Years passed. God spoke to one ma...
