LAWLESSNESS versus GODLINESS

Image
timothy-eberly-wnrxQGBhbh8-unsplash Here we are at the beginning of another year, and it hasn’t started out very well. There’ve been some highs, but lots of lows, and sadly, the lows continue. It’s hard for me to understand why humans feel it necessary to riot, break the law, fight, do damage, destroy property, trespass, and hate, and then act as though their behavior is righteous when it is anything but.   Why doesn’t our younger generation respect authority and the laws of our land? Why do they feel the need to protect criminals instead of America’s citizens? Where are common sense and eyes to see clear-cut right and wrong? And why do some so-called leaders desire the demise of our country, spew lies, and egg-on rioters?   What happened to our Land of the Free and Home of the Brave ? How did our older generation fail to pass on respect for our President, law enforcement, and care for fellow citizens with different opinions? Why could we not impart sanity, good judgme...

Does The Church Replace Israel? Part Five

We Stand with God Flag www.etsy.comlisting1589111068 In the crisp November air, the sights of Autumn are everywhere. Orange pumpkins , yellow, green, and white gourds, speckled Indian corn, fallen leaves of every shade, and cornstalks bundled with colorful bows. And can’t you almost smell the turkey roasting, taste the sweet tartness of apple cider , and let’s not forget pumpkin pie smothered with whipped cream.   What beauty and bounty the LORD created!   He’s given us the privilege of using His handiwork to not only feed our families, but also to make our homes beautiful. Yet, some struggle in these times. Painful memories, empty pockets, and maybe, twinges of jealousy. We wonder what it would be like to live in a stunning home with ample money, enjoying lavish Thanksgiving feasts , and presents galore.   But then it’s back to reality. Although we’d love to have what they have, as Christians, we know to thank God for His provision and trust Him with our fut...

A Mystery Kept Secret - Now Revealed

Do you like mysteries?  I do to a point. As long as the mystery is solved with a happy ending, I enjoy the investigation, search, and resolution. But, without a happy ending, I’m disturbed. This is one reason why TV season finales sometimes make me crazy. The word mystery , according to the online dictionary, means something that is difficult or impossible to understand or explain. It can also be a novel, play, or movie dealing with a puzzling crime, especially a murder. Obviously, television dramas are the latter. But, in just living we come upon mysteries – things we can’t explain. Some feel compelled to investigate because they need answers – to find each puzzle piece, assemble them, and solve the mystery . Then we are satisfied and settled. Still, because of this desire within us to know the complete story, doesn’t it intrigue you when God speaks in the New Testament about a m y s t e r y kept s e c r e t since the world began?

Why Should We Study the Old Testament?

For me, studying the Old Testament is like solving a mystery. This is because the Old Testament contains the same lessons, promises, and warnings as the New Testament, but somewhat encrypted or hidden. When the Holy Spirit unlocks the treasure, we see shadows, types, and pictures of God’s plan for the ages fulfilled in our Lord Jesus Christ. How do I know this? I rely on scripture, because it originated with God. He is the Author and He says He does not change.  Then comes Jesus, God the Son, no less authority. He said Moses and the Prophets wrote of Him. Since Moses penned the first five books of the Old Testament, and the prophets essentially wrote the rest, I know we can trust its words. In Romans 15 and I Corinthians 10, God said things happened to Israel as examples, written for our instruction and learning. If this is true, and I know it is, then we can learn much.
