OVERT EVIL versus COVERT EVIL

Every October, this country celebrates evil and death. Ghouls, goblins, witches, ghosts, 10-12-foot skeleton sculptures, and other representations of the spirit of darkness adorn stores and homes. Each year, the displays seem bigger and a little more fiendish.

As a true believer in Jesus Christ, I find this disturbing. Some say I’m ridiculous because, to them, it’s all in fun. Yet, in that case, I’d have to ask why. Hell is real. Satan is real. Why does anyone feel the need to celebrate spiritual wickedness and the evils of Satan?

Still, all this is overt evil—something evident and obvious—all around us through September and October. We know it’s coming, so we can brace for it. But I think it’s also Satan’s way of distracting us and keeping our minds off the covert or hidden evil he’s perpetrating. What do I mean? The things he and his minions do right under our noses. We don’t see them because, to many, he’s only the guy in the red suit with a pitchfork and horns.

Those of us who know our Bible understand who Satan is. He’s the serpent who deceived Eve by his craftiness. He’s the one who brings in another Jesus, a different gospel, and spirit. He’s the author of all false religions and cults, because he wants only to steal, kill, and destroy.[1] His main goal is to hurt the LORD God Almighty and take you to hell by any means necessary.

In order to do that, Satan cannot present himself as the overt evil we see at Halloween. Why? As long as it is only fake representations of malicious darkness, we think it’s fun to be scared. But if we could pull back the curtain, we’d see the hideous truth of wickedness, and reject him.

Therefore, Satan presents himself as good and benevolent—an angel of light—yet it’s pure deception. His fallen angels and demons do his dirty work by rounding up those who have rejected the One True and Living God revealed to us only in the Bible. These have already succumbed to Satan’s evil, and they work tirelessly for him without even realizing it. We see these humans as ministers of righteousness since we can't peek under their costume.[2]

This same covert evil is happening right now in America, and I’m not talking Halloween.

In the Second World War, we fought Nazis steeped in Satanism and Japan’s ancestor worship fueling their global expansion, and Kamikazes. Russia was our ally because we had not yet understood communism’s evil.

When the war ended on September 2, 1945, we thought those wicked philosophies would never again rear their ugly heads. But here we are, 81 years later, and the vile ideas of these foul regimes have infiltrated our nation.

Why? Was my generation negligent? Did we not stress the harms of socialism, communism, and Nazism? Did we fail to teach our children why the LORD God gave us this nation as a Democratic Republic with a God-inspired, solid and common-sense Constitution?

Apparently, we botched things, and Satan capitalized on our blunders. He whispered lies into our children’s ears and deceived them. I was born eight years after WWII ended, but I’ll take the blame. And to make amends, I’ll try to lighten your spirit by sharing my friend’s Facebook post.

Bev posted a 2004 Ann Landers article that Ann herself called, “…an oldie, but a goldie.”

In her own special style, this columnist taught about ‘ISMS’ simply and humorously using cows. Yes, you read that right—cows! Can cows explain communism, socialism, etc.? Well, keep reading, and you’ll find out.

Socialism: You have two cows. Give one cow to your neighbor.

Communism: You have two cows. Give both cows to the government, and they may give you some milk.

Fascism: You have two cows. You give all of the milk to the government, and the government sells it.

Nazism: You have two cows. The government shoots you and takes both cows.

Anarchism:  You have two cows. Keep both cows, shoot the government agent, and steal another cow.

Capitalism: You have two cows. Sell one, buy a bull.

It’s funny, but not funny. Which ‘ism’ is the only one that makes sense? Of course, Capitalism. It’s not perfect, yet capitalism is what made America great. Friend, we are in grave danger of losing this way of life. Satan and his minions have taken control of some and blinded many eyes to the truth of Jesus Christ.[3] And, by the way, Jesus was NOT a socialist.[4] We’ll talk more before the elections.

Love in Christ,

Anita
