Contend For The Faith - Part One

Image
https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2023/02/not-an-alien-invasion-how-ufo-mania-mainstream  "Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints." [1]   The craziness in our world keeps getting weirder—diligently seeking to erode our faith.   How so, you might ask? This past week, Congress held hearings where a so-called UFO whistle-blower testified. Were you disturbed? Intrigued? Or indifferent, not caring one way or another about what this man had to say? From what I heard in his testimony, he didn't say much. And I'm not surprised. I think it's deception —a smoke screen and a diversion from our nation's real problems—this totally corrupt, criminal, treasonous regime now in power and our seeming inability to remove them.   Still, in the wake of this man's testimony, I'd like t...

A Broken Vessel

https://elements.envato.com/female-driver-with-blooded-face-sitting-in-the-car-ZKTPLM2 In the wee hours of the morning, a tan Ford Focus drove left of center. Tires screeched. Metal clashed and crumpled. Whimpers and cries escaped the victim’s vehicle, but the other remained silent. Amidst sirens and flashing lights, rescue vehicles arrived. As paramedics filled the gurneys, a flash came from beneath the Ford. “It’s gonna blow,” a Fireman shouted, rushing to save the driver. “Just let me die,” Kathryn screamed. “I want to die. I don’t want to live.” “I can’t do that, Ma’am,” he yelled, yanking the door. It wouldn’t budge. “Bring the Jaws,” he hollered while other firefighters dashed to douse the car with chemical extinguishers. “No,” Kathryn shrieked, sobbing hysterically as the Jaws of Life opened her car like a tin can. Prying Kathryn from the wreckage, paramedics strapped her onto the last available gurney, checked her vitals, and slid her into the remaining ambulance. W...

CELEBRATE SIN or a LEGACY?

Image
Lorrie Naylor Photo   From M e m o r i a l D a y to I n d e p e n d e n c e D a y , there are thirty-four days, and thirty of them now celebrate SIN calling it pride . Not the pride we feel in our children, spouse, family, and friends or when singing our National Anthem or God Bless America . No, this pride defies God Almighty, desecrates His Holy Word, and yet proves it TRUE at the same time.   Those who celebrate—hate God—even though they may not realize it, as some claim to be Christians. So why flaunt sin and act like their lifestyle doesn’t grieve God’s heart?   Pride originated with Lucifer/Satan as he proclaimed, “I will be like the Most High.” [1] By his cunning, he deceived one-third of the angels. And after their expulsion from heaven, they, along with their leader, roam around in the dry places [2] until they find one who will believe their lies. [3]   But Satan hated God first. His goal was to depose the Most High and reign as king. Wh...

THE SON OF GOD’S LOVE

Image
Photo by  Robert Linder  on  Unsplash   In our 10:30 am small group class on Sunday mornings, we have been studying the book of Colossians. Last October, when I began preparing Colossians, the first thing that caught my attention was a phrase in Colossians 1:13 – “ the Son of His love .” . The NKJV renders verse thirteen as “He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love .”   Other Bible versions translate the phrase differently, saying, “his dear Son; beloved Son; or the Son he loves.” And truly, the Father does love the Son, for He said many times, “This is  My   beloved   Son , in whom I am well pleased.” [1] Nevertheless, the wording of NKJV intrigued me—stopped me in my tracks, so to speak—and my mind flooded with questions. “What exactly does “the Son of His love” mean? Is it only that God the Father loves God the Son? Or does it go much deeper?”   I was positive there ...

But We See Jesus – Part Two

Image
www.sewingdivine.com Jealousy, like poison, ruled their hearts. Although these chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things He did and heard the joyful squeals of children crying out, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” the blackness in their souls kept them from believing. Envy mixed with rage hurled words like daggers. “We must kill this heretic,” they said.   Satan stood in their midst, snickering. His plan to destroy the Son of God was nearing consummation. Slaying the Son would expel the Almighty, and Satan would be freed from his temporary prison to fully rule earth, its inhabitants, and soon, heaven.   Passover was at hand, and Satan saw his chance when Judas pocketed donated coins. Entering this disciple, he compelled him to strike a deal with the chief priests. For thirty pieces of silver, Judas would betray his Messiah.   Madness tormented as he led the soldiers to Jesus and identified the Holy One with a kiss. Throughout ...
