THREE DAYS OF PRAYER FOR AMERICA’S 2022 MIDTERM ELECTIONS: 

Day Three, Tuesday, November 8, 2022

Hear our prayer, O LORD, give ear to our supplications!


In Your faithfulness and righteousness, answer us, Your servants, and withhold judgment—for, in Your sight, no one living is righteous.


These last 21-1/2 months, the enemy has persecuted our souls. They have tried their best to crush our lives to the ground and make us dwell in darkness like those who are dead. They have overwhelmed our spirits and distressed our hearts. LORD, yes, we are sinful people! But if we feel this grieved about the incessant evil in our nation, surely this grieves You a hundredfold.


So, Father God, we humble ourselves before Your throne and REPENT for our own sin and the sin of our country—our proud looks, lying tongues, and the shedding of innocent blood. We repent for the hearts that devise wicked plans, the feet swift in running to evil, false witnesses, and those who sow discord. We remember the days of old, meditate on all Your works, and find our soul longing for You, like a thirsty land.


O LORD our God, hear our prayer, forgive our sins, and heal our land. Answer us speedily before our spirits fail. Do not hide Your face from us but cause us to hearken to Your lovingkindness—for in You we trust. Cause us to know the way in which we should walk and vote as we lift our souls to You.


Deliver us from our enemies, teach us to do Your will, and lead us in the land of uprightness. Revive us, O LORD, for Your name’s sake, for in You, in Your good, good Spirit, we take shelter.


Sovereign LORD, in Your mercy, cut off the enemy. Destroy those who afflict our souls. And please bring your servants, along with America, out of this evil.[1]


In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray, amen.

Whatever Happened to Live and Let Live?

         I’ve always loved the movie The Hiding Place —Hollywood’s version of the life of Christian author and speaker Corrie Ten Boom and her family. The Ten Boom’s were arrested for hiding and helping Jews during the German occupation of Holland in World War II. Betrayed by Hollanders who prided themselves in obeying German law, the Ten Boom family spent several years in concentration camps. God graciously rescued Corrie, but most of her family died there.         More recently, I found another movie, The Zookeeper’s Wife , a true account of Antonina and Jan Zabinski, who also hid Jews when the Germans occupied Poland. Yad Vashem in Israel aptly recognized them with the “Righteous Among The Nations” honor.          I love Israel. And it breaks my heart to see the unquenched resurgence of anti-Semitism in New York City. In relationships, when there is a rift and reconciliation has occurred, isn’t there a lifting of your spirit, joy in your heart, and an overall good feeling? This was the resident attitude of Bethlehem in Ruth 1:19-22. Because they repented, Bethlehemites were now harvesting barley. Jehovah-jireh, the Lord our Provider, had forgiven their transgressions, sent rain and caused their crops to grow. It was a joyous time of hard work; work Bethlehem had not had in much too long.
