What Is RIGHTEOUSNESS? Part 1

Image
deborahsdescendants.com When I was young, I remember rushing to the side of the road when a m i l i t a r y convoy would drive by. What joy I’d feel waving to the s o l d i e r s . My spirit would lift, and my heart puffed with p a t r i o t i s m . I thank God for those who currently serve and those who gave their lives for this country. And hearing the words of The Battle Hymn of the Republic and America the Beautiful , I’m inspired to work and fight right alongside these brave individuals to preserve the f r e e d o m God bestowed upon this nation.   Sadly, this freedom is being stripped away. And while it feels like it happened overnight, in reality, it’s been happening for at least 75 years. Our nation has slowly and systematically expelled the One True and Living God from schools, courts, government, businesses, and our everyday lives.   Why would we do such a thing when we, of all nations, have been so blessed?   Evil —pure, unadulterated evil.   In Matthe...

WHAT IS TRUTH? Part 2

Image
Spiritual darkness hung in the Praetorium like a dense fog. Black wisps of demonic hordes flitted about and entered the minds of the Romans. Heavy oppression compressed the lungs while heaving chests squeezed out air, and eyes clouded over with great deception.      Pilate rose from his seat of judgment and strolled toward Jesus, shaking his head at the insanity of the bogus trial, and this condemned One’s refusal to defend Himself. “He only mentioned truth ,” he mumbled, “and bearing witness to truth .” His brows furrowed. Nearing the place where Jesus stood, Pilate looked Him in the eye and said in a condescending tone, “ What is truth ? ”   Such an amazing question! And, one we need to know how to answer because TRUTH has been deemed relative for quite some time now. In other words, your truth may not be my truth. But this thought is just a regurgitation of Israel’s sad state of affairs, “In those days there was no king in Israel; e...

WHAT IS TRUTH? Part 1   Flaming torches lit the road as guards carrying swords and clubs surrounded Him. Throughout the night, they tortured, tried, and convicted Him, even though four days earlier, citizens hailed Him as Messiah the Prince. [1] A nearby rooster crowed while a sliver of white light crested the horizon, and a cloaked figure ran from the courtyard weeping. Morning brightened the streets but not the hateful temperaments. Torches doused until night returned, and the evil parade marched on to the Praetorium. https://christianevidences.org/the-praetorium-antonia-fortress-jerusalem/   Outside this notorious citadel, self-righteous Pharisees who had named themselves His judge and jury summoned Pontius Pilate. Normally, a criminal would be escorted inside to the Bema—the judgment seat—but it was Passover. Entering a Gentile dwelling caused defilement making the Jew unable to partake. What a contradiction—what a joke—since they had the TRUE Passover Lamb in...

Whom Do We Wrestle?

www.dreamstime.com free stock photo    Do you ever think life is hard? Goodness, I do. There are days, even weeks, where everything goes well. I feel God’s presence, hear His voice, learn from His Word, and life flows along like a deep, smooth river. And then there are times I slip on a rug and crash to the floor blindsided by a situation so confusing I just throw up my hands and shout, “What in the world is going on?”   In those moments, I tend to focus on the situation. What did I do to cause this, and how can I fix it? But after a while, I get irritated. If I hurt someone’s feelings by giving my opinion, why am I not entitled to my opinion? And why am I always the one punished? Why can’t that person just shrug it off and forgive?   The Lord allowed me to wallow for a few minutes, and then He said, “Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me.” [1]     “Yes, Lord, I’m listening.” ...

Good OR Bad News?

“I have good news and bad news. Which do you want first?”   Maybe you’re thinking, “I only want good news. I’m tired of the bad.” I fully understand. So, here's my good news:  God gave us the bad news first. What?   Yes, Almighty God established a LAW —man broke it— SIN entered the world and brought a penalty— DEATH —both physical and spiritual. Physical bodies age and eventually return to dust. For Adam, that took 930 years. However, his spiritual death—separation from this Holy God—began immediately. Isaiah 59:2 says, “But your iniquities have separated you from your God ; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.”   That’s a lot of bad news. And  I know you’ve heard it all before. But please stick with me. I do have a point. You see, if there were no good news to follow the bad, we would be doomed and rightly proclaim, “…Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!” [1]   Thankfully, God followed H...
