Seventeen Days of Prayer - Day Five - January 8, 2021
DAY FIVE
Father God, in the Almighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray today. You
are our life, and it is in You we live and breathe and have our being. We ask
that Your hand continues to move in our nation’s capitol to expose the lies. Yesterday
was a fiasco. Evil people perpetrated egregious crimes. Deliver us from evil and comfort the Ashli
Babbit family in their grief, as only Your Spirit can. Help, strengthen, and uphold
them with Your righteous right hand.[1]
Lord, do not let her tragic death be in vain. Give Your great wisdom
and emotional restraint to those fighting to keep this country free. Surround Your
servants with Your hedge of protection and bless the work of their hands.[2] As they look to You and
trust in You with all their hearts, please direct their paths.[3] Send Your angel before
them that they may prosper in their way.[4]
Oh Lord our God, You are our Creator, the only true God who made the
world and everything in it. You are Lord of heaven and earth, and You do not
dwell in a temple made with hands. Your Holy Spirit dwells with us. We are Your
temple—bought—redeemed with the precious blood of
Jesus—the Lamb without spot or blemish—foreordained and slain before the
foundation of the world. He alone is that eternal life manifested for us.[5]
From one blood, Adam’s, You made every nation of men to dwell on all
the face of the earth. You alone have determined our preappointed times and the
boundaries of our dwellings.[6] We live here in America in
this time, O Lord, because You placed us here. You know the thoughts that You
think toward us—thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give us a future and a
hope. So, we, Your children, are calling upon You, praying, listening for Your
Word, and seeking Your face with all our hearts.[7] Help us to be Your willing
servants, to occupy until You come, and to unashamedly proclaim the Gospel—that
Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day according to
the Scriptures—because only the Gospel is the power of God to salvation.
And in it, the righteousness of God is revealed.[8] You are THE LORD OUR
RIGHTEOUSNESS.[9]
In Jesus’ name, Amen and amen.
