Seventeen Days of Prayer - Day Nine - January 12, 2021

DAY NINE:

“O Lord God of our fathers, are You not God in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations, and in Your hand is there not power and might, so that no one is able to withstand You?”[1]

Most High God, we praise and honor You who lives forever: For Your dominion is an everlasting dominion, and Your kingdom is from generation to generation. All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; You do according to Your will in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth. No one can restrain Your hand or say to You, “What have You done?”[2]

You alone are the one True and Living God, and we, Your children, come before You this morning on behalf of our country, our President, and ourselves. Deliver us from the great evil that is seeking to destroy.

Father, the enemy appears strong in our physical world. “O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.”[3]

And Lord, when Jehoshaphat and all Judah prayed those words, You spoke through Your prophet: “Thus says the Lord to you: Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you…Do not fear or be dismayed…for the Lord is with you.”[4]

Father, please do for us what You did for Judah. As the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir came against them, Judah began to sing and praise Your Holy Name. Lord, it was in that moment You set ambushes to surround and contain the enemy. Confusion seemed to spread among them, so that they turned against each other and quickly fell.[5]

Lord, we are not asking for loss of life, but justice, vindication, deliverance, and for You, in Your great power, to rule in the kingdoms of men. Come quickly, Lord Jesus!

Our hearts, our souls, and our lives are in Your hand. Let us position ourselves, stand still, and soon see the salvation of the Lord. Help us not to fear or be dismayed, but reassured and confident the LORD our God, the Holy One of Israel, is with us, and He alone will fight this battle.

In the powerful name of Jesus, we pray, Amen and amen.
