Seventeen Days of Prayer - Day Eight - January 11, 2021

DAY EIGHT:

Heavenly Father, it’s day eight, and in Scripture, the number eight carries the meaning of new beginnings. “Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”[1]

Lord, our hearts are heavy because of what appears to be happening in our nation, yet, in our spirit, we know You alone are in control. No authority comes to power unless by Your hand.[2] Wisdom and might are Yours, and You alone set up kings and depose them. You give wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding. You reveal deep and secret things, and only You know what is in the darkness, for light dwells with You.[3]

Expose the evil in our country and bring them to justice. Give Your servants the ability to see the hidden things. And let not our faith be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.[4]

O Lord, our Redeemer, You formed us from the womb. You made all things. You stretched out the heavens and spread abroad the earth by Yourself. You alone frustrate the signs of the babblers, drive diviners mad. You turn wise men backward and make their knowledge foolishness.[5] We look to You to set our nation in order so that we may serve You fully and without fear.

This has been a silent battle to physical ears. But for those who hear and see, the battle between good and evil, right and wrong; sin verses Christ’s righteousness rages with deafening clamor. Still, we know because of Your Holy Word, Jesus Christ wins this war. Satan has no power or authority over You or Your people in whom Your Holy Spirit dwells. You are our Sovereign King. Deliver us from evil, O LORD my God. Banish the enemy as only You can do and expose his lies. Hold us tightly in Your arms as we ride out this storm, and let today be our new beginning.

We love You with all our hearts and trust You completely.

In Jesus’ name, we ask all these things, Amen and amen!

    1. So very sorry for my delayed response.

Thank you for praying with me. I know God is in control even though things continue to appear so bleak. It's so hard to be tried in the fire. However, when we have endured this heat, we will come forth as gold. Glory to our Almighty, Triune God!

Thanks again for your kind comment and for praying. Have a blessed and very Merry Christmas!

      Love,
      Anita
